A few words about cables

Technology surrounds us from all sides. Modern man functions and makes use of its achievements in almost every area of life: telecommunications, energy, automation, and indoor installations. We surround ourselves with devices, machines, and equipment that make our lives easier, our work easier or even that make it possible.

“The cardiovascular system” of all these devices are cables and wires.

Asking an expert what the best cables are, we will hear the answer hated by many: “It depends”. It depends on a wide range of factors, such as the type of signal, the distance, the speed of transmission, the power of the device, and whether it is to carry information or electrical charge. In any case, choosing the suitable cable for our needs and requirements is essential to ensure proper functionality.

I don’t think anyone doubts that as FCA, a technology integrator for fiber optic solutions when asked about the best medium for transporting information, we will say: fiber optics. And, of course, we will be correct. Fibre optic cables are second to none when it comes to transporting large amounts of data over long distances.

However, in many cases, wires are used to conduct electricity from the power source to the consumer. This is when electrical conductors come into play, which are made of copper wire(s) (or other conductors) and an outer insulator layer, which are bundled together to form electrical cables.

They are used in various industries and are often part of the installation they form with the fiber optic infrastructure. The bundles are used in all electrically driven devices, such as domestic appliances, industrial machinery and equipment, agricultural machinery, cars and other road vehicles, railways, electronics industry products, the medical industry and many more.

An electrical wiring bundle is usually a set of variously complex connections, a set of electrical wires, connectors, clamps and other electrical components that allow electrical current to be transmitted and enable a device to function, taking into account the operating conditions and its application.

The solutions currently in use are highly sophisticated regarding technology and design.

Fibre and copper solutions in many industries are complementary, not competitive with each other.

The complementarity of these elements means that we can achieve more, grow faster as manufacturers, maximise effects while minimising costs, and provide a more comprehensive range of solutions to customers. And this, as we all know, is what all entrepreneurs care about.
