#Hospitals and #health clinics are introducing more and more e-services, such as e-prescription, online registration, e-diagnosis and e-WUŚ. The health data collected in Polish healthcare facilities is growing every day. Digitization is aimed at improving communication between the facility and the patient. A well-functioning LAN network is necessary for the implementation of services provided electronically.
In a nutshell
The hospital in Ruda Slaska is one of the institutions which, seeing the demand for e-services, decided to expand the structured cabling of the LAN computer network. The improvement covered the network in two buildings.
The Challenge
The hospital in Ruda Slaska is one of those medical facilities that still lacks the extensive structural network needed for the proper functioning of individual units. Lack of access to the network and to equipment (computers) directly – negatively – affected the performance of daily duties by employees. On top of this, there was a lack of computer access and limited ICT equipment.
The Solution
FCA’s Implementation Department, whose competencies include: designing, implementing and maintaining LANs, undertook the task. Work on upgrading the network of the Ruda Śląska Hospital included:
- laying about 6 km of cat5e FTP/UTP cables,
- execution of distribution points on the floors,
- execution of fiber optic runs between designated points,
- development of as-built documentation.
