SN connectors: a novelty for the Data Center market!

In recent days we informed about a new product in our partner’s portfolio – Huber+Suhner company – SN connectors. This information is especially important for Data Center market, to which this product is dedicated.  What exactly are SN connectors? What benefits will they bring to data centres? What distinguishes them from other, already available options?

Answers to these and other can be found in the following article.

The dynamic development of the Data Center market has posed a challenge that DC solution providers are constantly trying to answer – limited space vs. the growing requirements for efficiency and speed of data transmission. Optical connections in enterprise and hyperscale data centres show us how important LC duplex and MPO connectors are. They form the basis of a significant proportion of infrastructure components. Both these connector types can be found in a whole range of solutions – from structured cabling to individual transceiver connections.

But can we do more?

SN® connectors are new to the market, thanks to SENKO’s innovative work. SN® are duplex fibre optic connectors designed to optimise Data Centre 400G. They are designed to provide individual and independent duplex fibre connection in a quad optical module (QSFP, QSFP-DD, OSFP). In comparison to already known MPO connectors, they are characterized by higher optimization and reliability.

What does the use of SN connectors give us?

SN® is a push-pull connector, which allows for high packing density. Although SN® allows for a 4-fold increase compared to LC duplex connectors, the required quality, optical and mechanical performance can be maintained.

Their important feature, similar to CS connectors, is the possibility to change the polarisation, which can be easily done in the field (unlike the MPO connectors mentioned above). It is an incredible plus for DC applications, facilitating configuration or expansion of server rooms.

How do they differ from the already available MPO solution?

– Simplified network structure

– Easier cleaning and maintenance of the ferrule end face

– Stable optical performance

SN® connectors can simplify and reduce the overall cost of your Data Centre structure. How? Optical modules based on this connector type are already split by having four individual SN® connectors on their interface. There is no longer any need to add further connectors.
